What is Black Hat SEO?

I’m new in SEO environment, and I want to be successful with it….please gave me also the do’s and dont’s of this techniques…thanks

Basically it is the practice of hoodwinking the search engines into pushing your website higher in the rankings here are many methods of accomplishing the end result (higher rankings), but it should be understood that you are potentially setting yourself up for the exact opposite (lower rankings and/or removal from the search engine index).you’d see websites with a given keyword or two or three repeated over and over again on a given page (sometimes hundreds of times) in order to make the engine believe that this page was really that important. You’d see blocks of text either at the top of the pages or the very bottom and usually the text would be the same color as the background of the page so that you couldn’t read the text unless you highlighted it. What’s funnier is that you can still find websites like this today. Funnier yet, some of these websites REMAIN EFFECTIVE in their tactics, no matter how obvious they are.if they can cheat the system and win, good for them. They also know they can just as easily lose the fight. It’s not the only form of gambling in this world.

White Hat SEO vs Black Hat SEO?

I agree with Terry S.

Be careful with Black Hat SEO, if you do not know the players, and they don’t know you, they will have fun with you and steer you in the wrong direction.

But, I don’t use Black Hat because I just believe in doing things the right way. Black Hat will get you there faster, in terms of making money, but Google and Yahoo will catch up with you and you can get banned.

how can I figure out if my SEO company are doing black hat technique for my website?

I am changing my seo company , the new company is telling me my old company was using black hat technique ( like shadow domaining) , how may I realize if they were using black hat technique for my seo?
Thanks

Hi Ari:

I would suggest having someone take a look at your current SEO campaign, and explain to you the reasons for why or why not your SEO company is using blackhat techniques. The trick is though, to find someone to do this that is not trying to sell your SEO as a result.

I kind of look at this as taking your car to the local mechanic. If you’re not a car expert, that mechanic can tell you anything he wants about what may or may not be wrong with your car. You need a trusted 3rd party source to verify such conclusions.

If you’d like, submit your site for review on sem-tv.com. It’s a new site I put together and I’d really like to do an episode on identifying blackhat SEO techniques. Don’t worry I won’t try to upsell you on anything! :)

Hope this help. Cheers,

Marc

Is having two different websites, in which one has a link to the other, black hat seo?

For instance: Let’s say I own a tar roofing company, and I have a website for it which is xyzroofing.com . Then I’m fortunate enough to get the domain name tarroof.com, which has the keywords "tar roof". Those keywords get tons of hits each month, so I setup the tarroof.com website, which contains generic FAQ’s on tar roof systems. Then I post an ad with a link for xyzroofing.com on tarroof.com, that says, "tarroof.com site sponsored by xyzroofing.com." Would this type of scenario be black hat seo? In other words, tarroof.com is an information site of useful content, that also acts like an ad for my company.

Yes. It is considered "cheating" by the major Search Engines. If you only do it once, no one may notice.
